A position
Anything can be generated. Something must be chosen.
“If AI can build anything, why pay a firm?” We ask the same question of every tool we buy, so it deserves a straight answer: you are no longer paying anyone for production. You are paying for choice — for knowing, out of everything that could be built, written or done next, the one thing that should be. That was always the expensive part. It used to hide inside the labour.
The thousand words
A thousand words, in the right order.
The most consequential things people do are made of words — a founding speech, a treaty, the one-page note that redirects a company. A thousand words in the right order can stop a war, or start one; the same thousand words in another order are noise. Producing text was never the bottleneck — anyone can type every alphabet. Choosing which words, for this reader, in this moment, with this intent: that is the entire job, and it always was.
Business runs on the same physics. The audit finding that names the real leak, the screen an operator accepts, the brand line a buyer repeats — each is a small number of exactly right choices sitting on top of an infinity of plausible ones.
The library
The library that holds every book.
Borges imagined a library containing every book that could ever exist — every truth, every masterpiece, every manual for every machine not yet built. And the library is useless. Not because anything is missing, but because everything is present: without a way to find the one true page, infinite content is indistinguishable from none.
AI is that library with a very fast librarian. It will hand you any book you can describe, instantly and beautifully typed. It cannot tell you which book your business needs. The asking is still the work.
A library that contains everything answers nothing.
The repricing
The average became free. Taste got expensive.
A model is, by construction, a blend of everything it has seen. That is its power — and its ceiling. The average answer, the average screen, the average strategy now costs nothing and arrives in seconds. Anyone can have it, which is exactly why it is worth what it costs.
When mediocre becomes free, the price does not fall on everything. It concentrates on what was always scarce: perception, intent, and the nerve to refuse what merely looks right. Judgment did not become obsolete; it was repriced. The gap between average and right used to hide inside months of labour. Now the labour is instant, and the gap is the whole product.
Who prompts the prompter
Someone still has to ask.
You can point an AI at an AI, and agents at agents — we do, daily and gladly. But walk the chain upward and it ends at the same place every time: a person who understands the situation, decides what matters, and phrases the ask. Your situation is not in any model. Which vendor is quietly overbilling you, which operator’s workaround is a symptom, which control your floor will actually keep — that context lives in walking your factory, not inside a subscription.
Every business we have walked into was unique in the way that matters: not in its machines, but in where exactly it was leaking and what its people would accept. The right direction into a system that can do anything — that is the product.
Where this cashes out
What the fee actually buys.
Curation
A thousand screens are possible; a floor will accept one. A hundred findings can be raised; a handful will move profit. Knowing which — before a year of rework proves it — is the skill, and it was learnt the expensive way.
Domain judgment
Knowing what to build, what to refuse to build, and where the leak actually is. The prompt is not the hard part; knowing what to ask for is.
Accountability
Generated work has no author. A name on the outcome — someone who stays until it runs and answers for it after — got scarcer the moment everything else got abundant.
Operations
Software is an event; running it is a practice. Real volume, real consequences, every day, until the fix holds.
We use these tools every day, harder than most. What changed is our speed. What did not change is what you are paying for: the choosing.
The same filter, inward
We hire the way we advise.
A firm that sells curation had better be made of it. Strip everything else away and Andrometiq is one process: curating people — for clarity of thought, for taste, for the stubbornness to refuse average work. Intelligence, energy, integrity — we will not trade one of the three for more of the other two.
If that filter sounds like you, the door is described honestly on the careers page.
